Emma Parker’s emotional story appears in TAKE A BREAK magazine…
My unborn baby gave me the will to live, says Mum diagnosed with breast cancer at six weeks pregnant
* Emma Parker was given the devastating news she had breast cancer.
* Just before her op to have lump removed, doctors found out she was pregnant.
* Incredibly doctors managed to treat her cancer while she was expecting and she and baby are both well.
When Emma was given the news she had breast cancer she was devastated. But she was even more shocked when as she went for her op to remove the cancerous lump, a routine blood test revealed she was pregnant.
Although she was just six weeks, a termination was out of the question. But to save her baby’s life instead of just having the lump removed, Emma chose to undergo a full mastectomy.
She then faced having chemotherapy throughout her pregnancy, treatment she worried would affect her unborn baby. But incredibly doctors were able to give Emma a type of chemotherapy that doesn’t cross the placenta.
Emma lost all her hair and although doctors were reassuring her baby would be healthy, she monitored every tiny kick.
Incredibly her baby girl was born healthy – and with a full head of hair to boot!
And now Emma credits her baby with the giving her the will to get better and stronger. Emma’s daughter is now one and Emma has just been given the all-clear.
Emma’s inspirational story appeared on the cover and over two pages of Take a Break magazine – giving hope to anyone else finding themselves in this terrible position that you and baby will be fine…
