BGT contestant Charlie Knight’s story about how Simon Cowell made a personal remark about her bottom appears as a SUN EXCLUSIVE and she made page 3 of the paper…
Britain’s Got Talent contestant Charlie Knight, 31, last night blasted Simon Cowell after he made a jibe about her ‘big bum’.
The curvy Burlesque dancer, who is a dress size 12, wowed the audience with her stiptease to Jungle Book’s The Bare Necessities – turned her back and wiggled her bare bottom at the judges. Her curves were only just covered by feather boa.
But Charlie – who goes by the name of Scarlet Cuffs – was devastated when following huge applause, Simon Cowell said: “I’m going to be honest with you – I prefer you face-on.”
Charlie then admitted: “I have got a big bum; I’ve got a woman’s bum.”
And when judge Amanda Holden replied to Simon it was good to ‘have something to hold onto,” he replied, “not necessarily.”
Fortunately, for Charlie, David Walliams then told the stunned dancer, “I love big arses.”
But Charlie – who was unanimously voted through to the next round by all four judges – claims although she put on a brave face, privately she was devastated by Simon Cowell’s comments.
Charlie, whose day job is as a ‘perfect size 12’ model for Debenhams, stormed: “What sort of message does this send out to women? I’m only a size 12. Most women in the UK will be bigger than I am. Yet, Simon Cowell has told me I’m too fat.”
And she claims following the show, which was aired last Saturday, she has been bullied on Twitter because of the comments. “One person said my bottom is like a jiggling jelly. Others said if they had a bum like mine, they wouldn’t dance like that.
“Another viewer tweeted me, ‘Why do you think it’s good to be fat?
“I didn’t reply. I felt so upset. I know I’m a healthy shape. I eat healthily and exercise regularly. But no woman likes to be made to feel she’s overweight. And I feel now Simon’s comments were too personal. He shouldn’t have made such a reference to my bottom.”
Charlie, from East London admits she was most nervous about what Simon Cowell would say. “You only have to look at his girlfriends to see he prefers thinner women.”
But she won’t be dieting. “I’m proud of my bottom and other men love it.”
