Couple have their dream £10,000 wedding for free – after bride wins it in over 20 prizes … Story in the Sunday Mirror and Star on Sunday
Childhood sweethearts Hannah and James Alexander dreamed of a £10,000 wedding
But the couple couldn’t afford it
So Hannah, 28, a supermarket sales assistant spent over a year entering competitions on social media
Aimed for prizes they could use on their wedding day
She bagged a £5000 reception, honeymoon and photography as prizes
Her total wins add up to £10,000 and couple recently had their dream day
Like many brides to be, Hannah, 28 dreamed of having the perfect day.
But she was horrified when she looked at the cost of her longed for white wedding.
Wtih family unable to help with the cost, Hannah – a sales assistant at Sainsburys and James, 26, a sales assistant at Aldi – had to resign themselves to a much less lavish wedding.
That was until Hannah, who met James when they were both in sixth form at school, came up with an idea. She decided she would win all the different aspects of their wedding.
Over 18 months Hannah scoured Facebook and Instagram for competitions with prizes that would help for their big day. She entered dozens and spent hours filling in forms.
Her hard work paid off and the couple recently had the £10,000 white wedding they’d yearned for with 60 friends and relatives.
Hannah’s wins included a £5000 reception, £300 wedding cake, £1000 photography, £165 stag do, £350 honey mini moon in a Yorkshire cottage, wedding stationery, hen do party hampter, bridal make up, £250 wedding rings, wedding stationery, gifts and favours, £240 grooms watches, aftershave, perfume for bride and groom, wedding decorations, hair curl kit, engagement photoshoot.
Locals who heard about her endeavours also chipped in – groomsmen bought their own suits, maid of honour bought her own dress, cupcakes and brownies were made by a friend, and more decorations were gifted. £1800 was donated which went to pay for more food and Hannah’s dress.
The story was made extra special by the fantastic photos taken by focalphotographs.com in Sheffield, who travelled to Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands for the day – and they were published alongside the story.
