The trip to Gran Canaria was supposed to be the perfect break.

But for Christine Bradbury and her partner David Price  it turned out to be anything but – after they were traumatised by bed bugs in their apartment.

Their nightmare began on the first night in their holiday apartment. Christine woke to find she’d suffered around 100 bites all over her body.

When the pair pulled back the sheets they were horrified to see the insects red from Christine’s blood hurrying through the sheets.

The holidaymakers were so upset they fled their apartment renting another nearby.

But their nightmare wasn’t over. When they arrived back in the UK they found they’d brought back some unwanted visitors in their luggage.

David, who was wearing a long pair on trousers that had been hanging up in the  

apartment,  began feeling itchy on the plane. By the time it landed, he was in agony. It turned out bugs had hitched a ride in his trousers and made a meal out of him on the flight.

All the clothes, including their suitcases had to be incinerated.

Months on the couple were still suffering from itchy scars. 

They complained and got some money back but mostly they say they have learnt when they go away to always do a forensic check of bedding before they unpack…
