And they are now a lesbian couple.
Kerry, 38, was always close to her friend Donna.
Over eight years, Kerry and her neighbour Donna were best friends and like all women best friends, helped one another through good and bad times.
When Kerry’s husband Shaun first asked her to marry her, Donna was the first person she told. Donna was thrilled for her – she helped with the wedding arrangements and Donna, who always knew she was gay, even became godparents to one of Kerry and Shaun’s two daughters.
The couples even went our for a foursome – Donna and her long term girlfriend and Kerry with Shaun.

Kerry thought she loved Shaun, her husband of five years but there was something missing in their relationship. She couldn’t put her finger on why but she just didn’t feel as close to him as she felt she should do.
One day, with her youngest daughter just 12 weeks old, she was saying to Donna, about how unhappy she was with her husband – and yet, he was a lovely man and she didn’t know why. It was then a kiss happened naturally with Donna, Kerry’s heart flipped and it was then that Kerry realised all along what was missing. She realised she was in love with Donna. She didn’t just feel closer to Donna – she lusted after her.
A few weeks later Shaun came downstairs and caught the couple in a clinch on the sofa.
Shaun was shocked and devastated and believed it was just a phase. But Donna left her girlfriend moving into the house with Kerry and her husband. Incredibly for the next three months – until Kerry and Donna found their own place – Kerry’s husband slept on the sofa.
Now 18 months on the couple are happier than ever. Kerry’s kids live with them and they feel they are not only lovers but best friends still.
