Leanne Daniel appears on ITV THIS MORNING…
A few months ago Leanne Daniel told the Sunday People newspaper how she found out she was expecting a disabled baby and was urged by doctors the best course might be to abort him.
Before she could make the decision Leanne, who was expecting twins, went into labour and Jamie was born.
Despite doctor’s grim predictions that he would not survive, and never walk or talk, Jamie has gone on to walk, talk and go to school.
Although he has learning difficulties, he is a joy Leanne would not be without.
So is it ever right to abort a disabled child?
Following a report about a mother of a severely disabled child who claimed she would ‘almost certainly’ have terminated the pregnancy had she known the risks, ITV This Morning debated this issue.
Leanne was joined by writer Hilary Freeman who feels she made the right decision to terminate her pregnancy on doctors’ advice.
And the pair each spoke eloquently about their very personal experiences to presenters Holly Willoughby and Philip Scofield.
This was a difficult subject that was dealt with sensitively by ITV This Morning and Featureworld was delighted to be able to give Leanne the opportunity to go on the programme.
