Graham was almost killed by this falling tree
This is the moment a motorist came close to death – as a massive tree comes crashing down in the path of his car.
The shocking dash cam footage was taken at the height of Storm Doris.
Grandfather of three Graham Panter, 71, says he was lucky to escape injury following the terrifying incident near the village of Long Buckly, Northamptonshire.
“I feel lucky to be alive. Two seconds earlier and I might not still be here,” he said, “My car is a soft top BMW Cabriolet and the tree would have crashed on top of me.
“It all happened so fast. As I drove along the road I noticed the line of trees – and then one of the largest ones just crashed into the road.
“I immediately hit the brake and luckily only bumped slightly into the branches.”
Graham got out of the vehicle and dialled 999. “The police were there in 15 minutes but the whole road was closed in both directions for some time after that as it was a massive tree.
“I was amazed to find the only damage to my car was a slightly dented bonnet.”
Graham was making the journey from his home at 1.45pm afternoon outside the village to return a library book. He said: “When I left the house it just looked a bit breezy but the wind soon got up. Luckily I still managed to make the library trip as I went another route.”
He was stunned when he viewed the dash cam footage: “That’s when I thought I came close to death. I realised what a very lucky escape I had.”
