Following her double page spread in the DAILY MAIL newspaper, we arranged for Joanne Mulholland – who has bravely spoken out about her sexual abuse – to appear on the sofa with Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield. And Featureworld also arranged for Joanne to tell her story to a women’s weekly magazine…
One of the most satisfying situations at Featureworld is when, as their story appears in publications, we see an interviewee grow in confidence.
When Joanne came to us for help a few months ago, she wasn’t even sure if she wanted to tell her story.
Following the assault on Joanne by spiritual healer Michael Ireland, a number of other women came forward to reveal the same thing happened to them. And he has since been jailed for 16 years.
But the mum of two felt terribly ashamed that she had been taken in by spiritual healer Michael Ireland and although she believed telling her story publicly would help her bring a sense of closure and justice to her ordeal, it wasn’t an easy decision to make.
However, after discussing it with Joanne – and giving her lots of time to really think about it – she decided to tell her story.
Since then Joanne has blossomed. She has been in the Daily Mail newspaper twice – once as part of a news item when Ireland was jailed and then telling her own story in a massive double page interview. Having also had a page devoted to her story in That’s Life magazine, she looked absolutely fantastic on ITV This Morning. She also spoke brilliantly.
We believe, as Joanne does, it is only by talking out about these issues that others can be warned. Not only that but telling your story can be a great way to bring closure to a trauma in your life. If a prestigious national newspaper believes your story is good enough to devote two pages to, it can be a tremendous boost. If one of the biggest TV shows in television wants to talk to you, it is certainly a perfect way to tell your story as you want to.
We are passionate about getting your story out there as you want it to be told!
